CSMS is part of the VI Form Academy at Camborne Science and International Academy, Cornwall’s most consistently high performing state school. That means that students who apply to CSMS will be able to benefit from the opportunity to study a wide variety of courses both on The VI Form Academy campus and at CSMS.

    Why study STEM?

    The most able students can opt to study a combination of Maths, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and the Extended Project Qualification at CSMS alongside other subjects at the VI Form Academy. Supported study sessions can take place at either campus.

    Applying for the Oxbridge Pathway

    Within CSMS, the Oxbridge pathway is for students who are aiming for Oxford or Cambridge universities. These students receive an intensive package of support, including specialist mentoring, interview preparation and tutorials for the entrance exams and STEP assessments.

    To apply for the Oxbridge Pathway you should apply to CSMS using the application pack above and indicate at your VI Form Academy interview that you wish to be considered for the Oxbridge Pathway. You will then be invited to a further academic interview at CSMS.

    FAQs

    What grades do I need to get?

    You need to achieve grade 7s or above in at least five GCSEs including in the subjects you would like to study with us.

    Do I have to study all science subjects?

    Not at all. We would expect students study at least two Science or Maths A Levels and an Extended Project but for your other choice(s) you are able to choose from the full curriculum at The VI Form Academy.

    We understand that you may have interests outside of Science and Maths, this year some of our students have chosen to study A Levels in Art and French for instance.

    Do I have to live in Camborne?

    It doesn’t matter where you live or where you went to secondary school! We welcome students from all over Cornwall.

    CSMS is situated close to the train station so is very easy to access from the rest of the county.

    I want to study at a top uni, how will you help?

    We work hard to ensure that our students achieve exceptional outcomes by providing cutting edge facilities and brilliant specialist teachers.

    We also run an intensive programme of lectures and seminars led by visiting academics, which showcase current research. These challenge you to think beyond the curriculum; a key way you will stand out during the university application process.

    What if I am considering an application to Oxbridge?

    Students who are interested in applying to Oxford or Cambridge can apply for our Oxbridge Pathway, which involves an intensive package of support to fully prepare you for the Oxbridge application process.

    Do you support people who want to study dentistry, medicine or veterinary science?

    If you want to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science at university then there is no better place to take your A Levels than here at CSMS. We offer exceptional opportunities to gain the necessary skills and experiences to realise your ambitions through our Veterinary and Medical Pathways.
