On Wednesday 22nd Jan a team of three Year 12 Chemistry students travelled to Plymouth University for the Annual Royal Society of Chemistry Regional Analyst Competition. An amazing effort by Molly Clemens, Aidan Kingshott and Henry Saunders-Filton meant they won the third place prize. They won a cash prize for themselves and for the school.
The competition was fierce, with teams of three from the top schools and colleges in the South West. The CSIA students showed excellent levels of knowledge and ability to apply themselves to successfully carry out some very complicated and difficult practical chemistry. They did this in the new environment of the University Chemistry Laboratory and under exam style conditions. They managed to stay calm under pressure and showed a high level of skill, confidence and ability to work together as a team. It was a very enjoyable and successful day – well done.
