On Thursday 25th January year 12 students had the pleasure of listening to a lecture by Professor Jonathon Sherratt of Heriot-Watt University on the mathematical modelling of wound repair. Professor Sherratt works on the application of mathematics to ecology, cell biology and medicine. His fascinating lecture gave an insight into the practical aspects of mathematics and how computer modelling can be used to better understand wound repair and contribute to drug development.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the lecture with many staying on to ask more specific questions about careers using a mathematics degree. We’d like to offer our sincere thanks to Professor Sherratt for taking the time to enthuse our students about maths.
